Intelligent function blocked by SMD error

Modified on Fri, 28 Nov at 9:42 AM

The SMD (“Smart Motion Detection”) error or the message “Please close SMD first” can appear when you try to use intelligent functions. This means that Smart Motion Detection is currently enabled. Since SMD itself is an intelligent function, you must disable it before you can activate another intelligent feature.

To disable SMD, go to:

Channel → Motion

On the right side of the motion detection settings table, you will find a column called “Smart Motion Detection”.

As long as “Pedestrian”, “Vehicle”, or both are selected in this column, the intelligent function is active.

Select “Motion” instead, then click “Apply” to deactivate this intelligent function.

Once it is disabled, you can go back to the AI settings and enable the intelligent function you want. The error message should no longer appear.
